As spring and summer weather arrives in DFW, Mi Dia From Scratch, a concept by celebrated Chef Gabriel DeLeon that blends traditional Mexico City recipes with modern Tex-Mex and Santa Fe flavors, is a go-to patio destination in one of Plano’s latest developments, West Plano Village, on the east side of the Dallas North Tollway and Parker Road. The 6,000-square-foot contemporary restaurant features a modern southwestern bar with an impressive “Tequila Tower,” consisting of more than 120 tequilas, and a spacious covered patio with comfortable lounge furniture, several mounted TVs, multiple heaters, three giant fans and the relaxing sounds of the trickling fountains nearby.

The concept, spearheaded by Chef-Managing Partner DeLeon, is the second Mi Dia From Scratch location in the DFW Metroplex, following the Grapevine location which opened in October, 2011. DeLeon takes much of his inspiration from his passion for travel throughout the world to bring authenticity to his dishes. Mi Dia From Scratch is named for DeLeon’s use of authentic ingredients in creating unique dishes by hand inspired by his training with renowned Mexican Chef Patricia Quintana in Mexico City.

New Entertainment and Dining Destination for Grownups “Sidecar Social”

Debuting Late Summer 2019 in Addison’s Village on the Parkway

The recent resurgence of Addison can be witnessed in the new developments of many well-loved destinations and new concepts converging on Belt Line Road and the Dallas North Tollway. One of the first and most popular outdoor shopping districts, Village on the Parkway, will now host another original, Sidecar Social (5100 Belt Line Road, Suite 401, 75254, 214.272.3950), a 20,000-square foot, curated, social lounge experience from BoomerJack’s Founder Brent Tipps, opening August 19, 2019.   

“We all want a place to go to hang out, relax, and connect with our friends and new people,” said Tipps. “Everything about Sidecar Social is designed around that. From shareable plates to free games, we built a place you can bring a friend to and go from dinner and drinks to games and music — you feel like you don’t want to leave.” 

Sidecar Social, with the tagline of “Go. All. Out.,” will feature a full spectrum of interactive attractions geared for adult mixing and mingling in a modern industrial, yet warm and refined setting. Guests will be able to choose from daily dining provided by its scratch kitchen while socializing over craft cocktails in one of Sidecar Social’s spacious bars. Additionally, guests can expect friendly competition with free classic games, private karaoke, multiple live music stages, and prime game-watching on 18-foot televisions and on a massive tree-shaded patio with flat screens.    

Two main bars will serve guests—one horseshoe bar and convivial lounge area off the main dining room with views of the kitchen and guests, and a giant, rectangular bar in the primary two-story showroom between three enormous 18-foot televisions, two bocce courts, shuffleboard, and generous banquettes with full views of live music stage. Guests will be able to enjoy delicious craft cocktails such as the Elderflower Paloma to Strawberry Basil Bees Knees and Italian 76. Handcrafted classic cocktails will also be available. Upon opening, daily drink specials will include $5 craft cocktails on Tuesdays, $5 martinis on Wednesdays, half-price wine and happy hour drinks from open until 6 p.m. on weekdays. 

Free, classic, indoor games for grownups will include a giant, eight-person foosball table, private ping-pong room, shuffleboard, bocce ball, pop-a-shot, corn hole and darts. Live entertainment acts are poised to take the stage every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on a remote, retractable platform including acoustic acts, live dance bands and DJs. Additional staging areas on the patio and main dining room will be available to host DJs and acoustic acts. Local restaurant and live music industry veteran and General Manager Steve Richardson plans to bring the best acts from the regional music scene to Sidecar Social.

City of Allen welcomed the first Delta new build by Marriott in the United States on January 15…Grand Opening Week of Celebrations Kicks Off with Texas Independence Day March 2-March 9

City of Allen officials and Dallas-Fort Worth notables, developers, business people, and North Texas influencers alike gathered for the topping off celebration of the first-ever Texas location of Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen & Watters Creek Convention Center and what will be the first Delta new build by Marriott in the United States upon its completion. Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen & Watters Creek Convention Center with 90,000 square feet of flexible and state of the art meeting space will open in January of 2019. This location will be the brand standard for the Delta Hotels by Marriott brand going forward.

The project is a public-private partnership between the City of Allen, Delta Hotels by Marriott, Altera Development, Allen Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, and Benchmark Global Hospitality.

Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen will house Terrell Hall, the convention center hall named after Allen Mayor Stephen Terrell.

The 300 room, six-story Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen & Watters Creek Convention Center will offer the “bare maximum” of luxury amenities, celebrity-chef driven cuisine by celebrated Chef Stephan Pyles, an expansive pool and patio, proximity to high-end shopping and dining at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, and staff possessing Texas hospitality offering personalized service.  The project was conceptualized with frequent travelers and comfort, value and convenience at top of mind.
